Trauma

Area of Support

Trauma

Trauma is an emotional response to a distressing or disturbing experience. Everyone processes traumatic events differently because we face them through the lens of prior experiences. Some people may have overwhelming negative emotions, while others may feel numb and unable to feel pleasure or pain. Feelings of guilt or shame after a trauma has passed are normal. Some individuals may feel bad for surviving an event while others didn’t or regret the way they reacted during an event.

Symptoms of Trauma:

  • Increase usage of Alcohol/Drugs
  • Overeating
  • Easily startled by noises or unexpected touch
  • Outbursts of anger/rage
  • Tendencies to isolate themselves
  • Feelings of detachment
  • Difficulty trusting or feelings of betrayal

I can help you reclaim your power and face the reality of past events without feeling stuck or alone.
